WARNING!
Changing the gain of the electron multiplier without changing its
high voltage setting will ruin your calibration. If you wish to
increase the gain, raise the high voltage setting and set the gain
to 1. Run a scan in faraday cup mode and in electron multiplier
mode, noting the signal value for a peak in both modes. The ratio
of the peak value between the two modes is the gain factor. Return
to the detector setup and set the gain factor to this value. See
appendix_d.doc and your RGA manual (page 7-14) for details.
WARNING!

PLEASE NOTE: On some operating systems, a pop-up message box may appear
BEHIND a box labeled "Please wait while the Windows Installer is configured".
You may need to click on this box in order to reveal the pop-up box labeled
"Your computer must be rebooted before this installation can continue.
Would you like to reboot your computer now?" If you seem to be waiting for
a long time while your system's hard drive is not active, you should click
the box labeled "Please wait while the Windows Installer is configured" to
reveal the pop-up box, and make the appropriate choice to reboot immediately
or to post-pone the reboot after the install.
